Countdown to Earth Day Revolution Kicks-Off at U.S. Capitol

With 40 days until Earth Day 2010, nearly 50 leaders from the environmental, faith and veterans communities signed a "Declaration" calling on the U.S. Senate to take swift action on clean energy and climate. Forty years after the first Earth Day, these leaders urged the Senate to stop stalling and start acting on clean energy and climate solutions for America. Said LCV President Gene Karpinski:
"For too long Big Oil and their special interest allies have stood in the way of a clean energy revolution. It's time for lawmakers to listen to the millions of citizens who will recognize this Earth Day by demanding the Senate gets working to pass comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation. We need more Clean Energy Patriots this year. We need an Earth Day Revolution, not just another celebration."
The declaration demands that the Senate to act on clean energy and climate change and it asks: "We have a question for members of the US Senate: Whose side are you on - Big Oil and their lobbyists or the Clean Energy Patriots?"
